Stella McCartney S/S 2016 PFW

A dedication to all women

stella

The British designer, Stella Mccartney  showed her spring/summer 2016 collection at Paris' Palais Garnier  on Monday morning. She described her collection as being influenced by the idea of an artist and their muse. The show's energy matched the reputation of its front row of sports glitterati, including F1's Lewis Hamilton and tennis star Maria Sharapova, demure in black.

The opening looks were particularly cheerful, a jam around the idea of polo shirts that came deconstructed and lengthened to ankle in a red and white and then black and picnic blanket check. Bright primary diagonal striped sporty shaped dresses and skirts followed, accessorized with McCartney's take on the platform sandal and  picnic blanket bucket bags. McCartney also presented asymmetric pleated tops and skirts combinations, and dresses in contrasting colors for the spring/summer 2016 collection. The collection finished with a selection of summer barbecue-to-evening-at-a-garden-party dresses in net-like fabric, with flouncy skirts, some appliquéd with spiral and squiggle patterns. Backstage after her SS16 show at Paris' Palais Garnier this morning, McCartney, dressed in black sweater and matching wide trousers, elaborated on her artist/muse inspiration. “Women are my muse, women inspire me,” said , hugging her sister, the photographer, Mary, “I wanted to celebrate all different types of a woman.”
