A first look into the exhibition

The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute is set to change the New Yorker style on May 7 with its latest spring 2015 exhibition “China: Through the Looking Glass”. The exhibition is going to combine high fashion with Chinese costumes and porcelain art to explain how China has been a center of inspiration for everyone all around the world. The items to be paired include a Yves Saint Laurent dress from 2004, a Roberto Cavalli dress from 2005 and an embroidered Galliano shawl – thus making a dreamy statement also with the end products.  Two days ago, the Met introduced us to the 130 of the works to be featured in the exhibition. Addressing an all-star fashion crowd in NY, the pictures revealed the alternate narrative approach the museum used to diminish the distance between the East and the West. Only 2 and a half more months until we get a glimpse – stay tuned.
